Under the “Measurements Act” fines are being imposed of up to $28,000 for installing or allowing to be installed, a meter in an installation that may be used for revenue/billing purposes, which is not Pattern Approved.
The Federal Government has amended the National Trade Measurement Regulations 2009 (Cth) to remove the exemption for electricity meters installed from 1 January 2013 onwards. This means that all electricity meters (<750 MWh/annum) especially if used for billing purposes, MUST be pattern approved to NMI M6-1 and verified to NITP-14, both of which are NMI issued documents.
